About Flora

I grew up riding in the leafy Cotswolds, free to explore the surrounding fields and hills on horseback; I reckon this is where my wanderlust started. After finishing university and realising the financial industry was not for me, I packed my bags and embarked on a round-the-world adventure with only my passport, a backpack and my best friend. Working my way through Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific gave me a passion for all things Asia. On my return to the UK, a career in luxury tailormade travel seemed an appealing option, not least because it allowed me to see the world regularly and keep my travel bug well fed! As well being a keen rider, I am a qualified Advanced Open Water scuba diver who loves to explore the underwater depths and its treasures whenever possible.

Raja Ampat and Thailand

Raja Ampat and Thailand had long intrigued me, and my recent journey through both was nothing short of transformative. Days spent diving in the remote waters of Raja Ampat revealed an underwater world beyond anything I’d imagined graceful manta rays gliding past, tiny seahorses tucked into coral gardens, playful dolphins, and even a distant whale on the horizon. It felt like the edge of the earth, utterly pristine and wildly alive.
From there, the shift to Thailand was striking in the best possible way. Bangkok buzzed with energy and contrasts, from hidden temples to rooftop bars, while the peaceful hills of the Golden Triangle offered a slower pace and moments of deep calm. Staying at the Anantara Golden Triangle, where elephants roam below your balcony and the Mekong drifts by in the distance, was a particular highlight.
I’ve come home full of inspiration—these two destinations are a natural pairing for those seeking the extraordinary: bold adventure, deep cultural immersion, and moments of absolute stillness.
Next destination is…

Laos

Although I’ve been to Laos before, it was nearly 15 years ago and the pull to return has only grown stronger with time. Often overlooked in favour of its better-known neighbours, Laos moves to its own gentle rhythm, with a serenity that sets it apart. I’m excited to rediscover its charm—meandering through the sleepy, saffron-robed streets of Luang Prabang, drifting down the Mekong at sunset, and soaking up the quiet spirituality that infuses daily life.
This time, I’m especially drawn to explore further afield—from misty mountain villages in the north where traditions still hold strong, to hidden waterfalls and jungle-cloaked national parks that feel a world away from the everyday. And of course, I’ll be revisiting the flavours I remember so fondly—lemongrass, sticky rice, and that perfect punch of chilli.
Laos may be small, but it promises a journey rich in soul, subtle beauty and the kind of quiet moments that stay with you long after you return home.
