Why travel to the Caribbean
With more than 7,000 islands – the majority uninhabited – the Caribbean is an otherworldly region. The isles are diverse and each one has its own character and appeal. Compare, for example, the beats and rhythms of Barbados with its much sleepier, trapped-in-time neighbour, St Vincent + the Grenadines.
Home to breathtaking white-sand beaches, stunningly turquoise seas, glorious coral reefs, dramatic peaks and verdant forests, many of the islands harbour interesting birdlife and tropical flowers. There are some very scenic spots to explore on foot, such as St Lucia’s Piton mountains, making this a great destination for island adventures as well as just heavenly beach relaxation.
