An itinerary designed for families to explore the Galapagos Islands without being at sea. 

The first question you are likely to be asked about your Galapagos trip is “Which boat are you going on?”, but did you know that you don’t have stay on a boat at all?

This itinerary is designed primarily with families in mind but it can be adapted for anyone who does not like the idea of being at sea for days at a time. Travelling with a private guide at your own pace means that you can take in these incredible islands in a different way. You will have the opportunity to climb volcanos, meet giant tortoises in the wild, snorkel in hidden coves and eat in a variety of restaurants, meeting the people who live here along the way. This itinerary includes the islands of Santa Cruz, Isabela and San Cristóbal meaning that you will see some of the very best wildlife that the islands have to offer.

Quito

Quito Ecuador

Your journey will start in the Ecuadorian capital of Quito with a full-day immersion tour including chocolate tasting for the kids and an agave experience for the grown-ups. Along the way, your personal guide will introduce you to the rich culture of Ecuador and take you to the city’s main sites from 16th century churches to vibrant food markets.

Baltra to Santa Cruz

Sally Light Foot Crab Galapagos, Ecuador

The adventure starts as soon as you land in the Galapagos as the journey from Baltra to Santa Cruz Island includes a chance to kayak, paddleboard or snorkel. Keep your eyes open for Sally Lightfoot crabs, blue-footed boobies, sea lions, pelicans and even white-tipped reef sharks.

Explore remote islands

Milly Galápagos

The Galapagos archipelago consists of 13 large islands and over 60 smaller outcrops, A day trip from Puerto Ayora could take you many of these, perhaps to Bartolomé and her penguins, North Seymour with its frigatebird colony or Santa Fe where you’ll find land iguanas and Darwin’s finches. Remember to pack your swimmers as snorkelling equipment is provided.

Inland Volcanic Explorations

Exploring with your guide, discover the world’s second-largest volcanic crater, hiking through the atmospheric mist of early morning you’ll meet giant tortoises, and spot hawks, owls and finches. You’ll discover martian landscapes and endemic trees before returning to the coast to relax with a cool dip.

Sharks in the Water

The Tintoreras Islands lie just off the coast from Puerto Villamil and a famous for the harmless white-tipped reef sharks that live here. Grab a snorkel and jump in to spot them swimming among the fish, sea-lions, turtles, rays and penguins. With pelicans and blue-footed boobies present this is an incredible selection of wildlife.

Kicker Rock

One of the most iconic sites of the Galapagos Islands, Kicker Rock is also one of the very best snorkelling spots and a fabulous place to swim with sea lions.
