Luxury St Lucia Itinerary

St Lucia: A Caribbean Jewel Unveiled

St. Lucia’s dramatic topography renders it one of the most visually arresting islands in the Caribbean, with the jewel in its crown the stunning UNESCO-listed Piton mountains.

Offering the perfect respite for those seeking adventure, romance, relaxation and wellness, we’ve uncovered the best of this verdant island paradise in this enticing honeymoon itinerary. From climbing extinct volcanoes and hiking through lush rainforests to diving into kaleidoscopic reefs, chasing rejuvenating waterfalls and lazing on secluded beaches, every moment spent here will be magical.

Sublime luxury resorts dot the island’s shores, and this curated journey showcases two of its finest – Anse Chastanet and Cap Maison. Anse Chastanet transcends a breathtaking Caribbean escape with its beautiful accommodations, warm service and exquisite cuisine. It’s a part of a sprawling 600-acre tropical estate, granting you access to a myriad of engaging activities from exploring the resort’s organic farm to indulging in truffle-making at the Chocolate Laboratory. Meanwhile, Cap Maison occupies an idyllic perch on Smugglers Cove in the island’s north. This glorious beach is the launch for endless aquatic adventures, from hoisting sails on Hobie Cats to paddleboarding, windsurfing and snorkelling, while on land, hammocks offer romantic refuge to unwind under swaying palms: piña colada anyone? Join the resort’s running club to explore incredible trails or embark on a captivating yacht excursion to Vals des Pitons, where you can admire the iconic mountains that have rendered this area world-famous.

While St. Lucia offers the quintessential ‘fly and flop’ getaway, those who venture beyond the beach on their honeymoon will be richly rewarded with an immersive exploration of this Caribbean gem.

GEOGRAPHICAL FACTS

St Lucia is the first country in the world to be named after a woman, Saint Lucy of Syracuse. Legend has it that French sailors were shipwrecked there on St Lucy’s feast day, and they named the island after her in her honour.

The Itinerary

Heavenly helicopter arrival

Could there be a more magical way to arrive at your Caribbean getaway than by helicopter? Enjoy birds eye views of St Lucia’s coastline and mountains to arrive with a fabulous sense of place before you even get to your room. The island has just one permanent helicopter available for transfers and they require a minimum of four passengers per flight, so a party of two should expect to share this transfer.

Island exploration

For a petite island there’s plenty to see, including the old French Colonial plantation of Anse Mamin, a tropical paradise with ruins dating back to the 18th century. Getting there on foot is easy and a lovely jog in the cool of early morning or late evening. Want to learn more? The hotel has expert guides who will be more than happy to accompany you. Further outings include visits to the Louis XVI mineral baths, Sulphur Springs, the island’s famous “drive-in volcano”, plus Anse Chastanet’s organic farm and Chocolate Laboratory, where you can experience chocolate sensory tastings and truffle making classes.

Adventures on two wheels

Cycling enthusiasts will be delighted to find St Lucia’s mountain biking centre at Anse Chastanet. With eight miles of carefully maintained trails and a range of Cannondale bikes there’s something for all riders from gentle flats to single-track trails. There’s even a skills training course so you can brush up (or learn) those all-important off-road techniques. Serious riders can take on the infamous Tinker’s Trail.

Extraordinary days at sea

There are endless options for enjoying the island’s sparkling coastline, from relaxing on a private yacht to deep sea fishing and whale watching (seasonally dependent). You could even take a boat transfer to a local golf course for a tropical round or two. From the beaches at your hotels, you will also have access to a wide range of water sports from SUPs, windsurfing and kayaking to snorkelling.

Blissful relaxation

Let yourself be pampered and indulge a divine range of treatments to soothe body, mind and soul. Both hotels in this itinerary are home to standout spas offering massages, exfoliation rituals, facials and more. Yoga classes are also available.

Panoramic trails + a round on the links

Cap Maison’s Running and Hiking Club is at your disposal for beautiful trail runs, guided cliff top jogs and remote beach hikes along St. Lucia’s dramatic Atlantic coast. Keen golfers can also access an 18-hole course, part of the Sandals resort, located not far from the hotel.

Rock, roll + romance

Cap Maison is home to a fabulous restaurant known as Rock Maison, which is possibly the most famous private dining location island wide – and certainly one of the most romantic. Set on a rocky outcrop with glorious views, the restaurant hosts local musicians for clifftop jam sessions and has a unique champagne zip line that whizzes fizz to your table.
