Why visit Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls, or “Mosi-oa-Tunya” – The Smoke That Thunders, is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World and a destination that offers both breathtaking beauty and unforgettable experiences. For those seeking exclusivity, this iconic landmark delivers beyond expectation. Picture yourself standing in awe at the edge of the thundering falls during a private sunrise tour, watching the morning light transform the mist into a kaleidoscope of color. Explore the Zambezi River by canoe, glide silently past hippos and crocodiles, or take to the skies in a helicopter for unparalleled views of the falls and the surrounding wilderness.

Luxury lodges along the river provide tranquil retreats, combining exceptional service, gourmet dining, and spectacular vistas of Africa’s great wilderness. For the adventurous, white-water rafting in the Batoka Gorge, ziplining across the chasm, or walking through the misty rainforest trails will leave you exhilarated. The area’s wildlife is equally spectacular—combine your visit with a safari in nearby private reserves, where you can encounter elephants, lions, and other iconic species in pristine, uncrowded landscapes. To deepen the experience, connect with local communities, artisans, and traditions. Victoria Falls is not just a destination; it’s an unforgettable chapter in your journey through Africa.

Did you know?

During the rainy season, the flow of water over Victoria Falls can reach an incredible 500 million liters per minute, creating a mist that rises over 400 meters into the air and can be seen from up to 50 kilometers away.

Fishing owls

The Pel’s fishing owl, found in the lush habitats around Victoria Falls, is one of Africa’s largest and most elusive owl species. Unlike most owls, it prefers a diet of fish, which it catches with remarkable precision by swooping low over rivers and streams. Its haunting, deep, and resonant call is often described as a low-pitched “boom,” adding an air of mystery to its nocturnal activities.

OUR FAVOURITE TIME TO VISIT

Overall May to August are the best times to be there, however, there are variables. For rafting August to December are generally best and for photography July to October tend to be better when there is less water and therefore less spray.
