Good to know

How to get there

There are many ways to reach Victoria falls with flights from Cape Town and Johannesburg in South Africa, Windhoek in Namibia, Maun in Botswana, Nairobi in Keny and Addis Adaba in Ethiopia the most common routes.

The lodge is around half an hour from the airport.

Are children welcome?

Yes, children are welcome at Tongabezi Lodge, but the experience is tailored more towards families staying in the Tangala Private House or the Garden House, both designed for family-friendly stays. The lodge provides child-friendly activities and personalised service, making it a great option for families seeking a luxury safari experience. However, some accommodations, such as open-fronted suites, may not be suitable for younger children for safety reasons.

Giving back

  • Conservation & Wildlife Protection – Supports anti-poaching efforts and works with local conservation projects to protect the Zambezi ecosystem.
  • Community Engagement – Strong support for the Tongabezi Trust School, providing education for local children, as well as employment and skills training initiatives.
  • Sustainable Sourcing – Uses organic, locally grown produce for meals and prioritises fair-trade and ethical suppliers.
  • Low-Impact Tourism – Carefully managed guest experiences ensure minimal disruption to wildlife and natural habitats.

Why we love Tongabezi

This has long been a firm favourite of ours thanks to its peaceful location away from the hustle and bustle of the Falls, but close enough to explore them easily. The lodge is beautifully designed and the staff are among the very best around.
