Giving back

Anabezi Camp is deeply committed to supporting local communities and conservation efforts in the Lower Zambezi region. Their key initiatives include:

  • Zambezi Wildlife Trust (ZWT): Established by Anabezi, ZWT focuses on addressing challenges faced by communities in the Chiawa Game Management Area. Since 2018, ZWT has undertaken projects such as constructing teacher accommodations, building water towers, and creating washing stations to improve sanitation and reduce human-wildlife conflict.
  • Conservation Lower Zambezi (CLZ): Anabezi collaborates with CLZ, which operates Zambia’s only all-female anti-poaching unit, Kufadza. CLZ employs a comprehensive approach to wildlife protection, including foot patrols, K-9 units, and aerial surveillance, contributing to the preservation of the Lower Zambezi’s biodiversity.
  • Community Engagement: Anabezi actively involves local communities in conservation and tourism initiatives, fostering sustainable livelihoods and environmental stewardship. By supporting grassroots projects, the camp ensures that conservation efforts benefit both wildlife and the people of the Lower Zambezi region.
  • Wildlife Monitoring: Anabezi works alongside conservation organizations to monitor local wildlife populations. This includes tracking endangered species, conducting anti-poaching operations, and ensuring the sustainable management of natural resources.
  • Education on Conservation: Anabezi Camp partners with local schools to educate students about the importance of wildlife conservation. They provide resources such as books, materials, and even arrange for conservationists to give talks about the benefits of protecting Zambia’s wildlife. This helps foster a sense of stewardship in younger generations.
