Good to know

How to get there

The Lodge at Blue Sky is just 35 minutes by road from Salt Lake City airport or the same from Park City. It is a great base from which to experience both the city and the surrounding countryside.

For the ultimate arrival a heli-transfer can be arranged.

Are children welcome?

Absolutely, children are warmly welcomed at The Lodge at Blue Sky, and the property offers a thoughtful blend of luxury and nature that suits families exceptionally well.

There are dedicated family-friendly activities, including wildlife tracking, horse grooming, junior ranch experiences and easy hiking trails through the surrounding wilderness. The lodge’s staff can also tailor adventures to suit different ages, from gentle pony rides to outdoor survival skills sessions.

Accommodation works well for families too, with spacious suites and interconnecting rooms, as well as private Sky Lodge options that offer plenty of space and seclusion.

While it’s a peaceful, wellness-focused retreat, Blue Sky never feels overly formal. Instead, it encourages children to engage with the outdoors in a meaningful and hands-on way, whether that’s learning about regenerative farming or helping to harvest vegetables from the onsite farm.

Giving back

The Lodge at Blue Sky has a strong commitment to sustainability, grounded in its ethos of connecting guests with nature while actively protecting it.

At the heart of its approach is Blue Sky’s 3,500-acre ranch, which follows regenerative agricultural practices. The onsite Gracie’s Farm grows produce without chemicals or pesticides, focusing on soil health and biodiversity. Guests are encouraged to visit the farm, learn from its caretakers, and even join seasonal harvesting or seed-saving sessions.

The lodge’s culinary programme is entirely seasonal and locally sourced, with a focus on reducing waste and minimising environmental impact. All meat is hormone-free and pasture-raised, and much of the produce is grown onsite or sourced from nearby sustainable farms.

Energy efficiency is built into the lodge’s design. Accommodations are positioned to maximise passive heating and cooling, and reclaimed materials have been used wherever possible.

Water conservation is also a key priority, especially in Utah’s arid climate. Native, drought-resistant landscaping, low-flow fixtures and water-efficient operations are all standard.

Additionally, The Lodge supports Saving Gracie Equine Healing Foundation, a non-profit rescue for horses that have suffered neglect, giving them a home and purpose through guest experiences and therapy programmes.

What wildlife am I likely to see?

Despite being so close to Salt Lake City, the lodge feels truly remote, and the wildlife is incredible. Keep your eyes open for:

  • Elk and mule deer, often grazing at dawn and dusk in open meadows or near the creek beds.

  • Moose, particularly in the cooler months, often found near water or moving through forested areas.

  • Red foxes, coyotes and bobcats, typically more elusive, but occasionally seen in the early mornings or evenings.

  • Golden eagles and red-tailed hawks, soaring overhead, along with owls in the forested areas at night.

  • Songbirds and hummingbirds, especially near Gracie’s Farm, where flowering plants and fruit attract smaller species.

  • Wild turkeys and rabbits, commonly spotted on family-friendly walks near the lodge.

Guided wildlife walks and horseback rides offer the best chance of spotting animals, and the lodge’s field guides can tailor outings based on the season and your interests.
