Tenekayi Guni

Tendekayi Guni, known as Tende, is an experienced safari guide whose work spans the ecosystems of East and Southern Africa. Based in Tanzania, he leads journeys that combine deep wildlife knowledge with a thoughtful, attentive approach to the natural world. Much of his guiding focuses on walking safaris, where time on foot allows guests to slow down and experience the bush more intimately.

Tende is co-owner of Makubi Safari Camp in Nyerere National Park, where he plays an active role in shaping a safari experience centred on authenticity and conservation. His guiding style blends natural history, local insight and storytelling, helping travellers understand not only the wildlife they encounter but also the landscapes and cultures that define the region.

Beyond the savannas, Tende’s interests extend to the ocean. As a qualified scuba diver, he also explores Africa’s marine environments, bringing the same curiosity and ecological awareness to life below the surface.

His guiding has taken him across Tanzania, Kenya, Botswana, Zambia and South Africa, as well as Mozambique, Rwanda, Uganda and the Indian Ocean islands of Madagascar, Réunion and Mauritius. Tende holds FGASA Level 3 guiding qualifications and is a certified PADI diver, allowing him to guide both bush and marine experiences.
