 Zanzibar holds the record for the shortest war in history. The Anglo-Zanzibar War, fought between the United Kingdom and the Sultanate of Zanzibar on August 27, 1896, lasted between 38 and 45 minutes. The conflict ended with a decisive British victory.

Getting to the Zanzibar

By Air: The most common way to reach Zanzibar is by flying into Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ) on the main island, Unguja. There are direct flights from major cities like Dar es Salaam, Nairobi, Doha, and Addis Ababa. International airlines such as Qatar Airways and Ethiopian Airlines offer regular flights to Zanzibar.

By Ferry: For those traveling from mainland Tanzania, taking a ferry from Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar is a popular option. The ferry ride takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes and offers scenic views of the Indian Ocean. There are several ferries operating daily, making it a convenient and budget-friendly choice.
