Getting to the Dar es Salaam

By Air: The most common way to reach Dar es Salaam is by flying into Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR), located about 12 kilometres from the city centre. There are direct flights from major cities like Nairobi, Johannesburg, Dubai, and Istanbul. International airlines such as Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Turkish Airlines offer regular flights to Dar es Salaam.

By Road: The city is well-connected by road to other major cities in Tanzania. Highways such as the A-7 to Morogoro and the Tanzam Highway from Zambia provide access to the city. Long-distance buses, like those operated by Kilimanjaro Express and Dar Express, offer comfortable and affordable travel options.

By Train: Dar es Salaam is served by two major railway lines. The Tanzania Railways Limited (TRL) connects the city to Dodoma and other regions, while the TAZARA Railway offers a scenic route through the Selous Game Reserve to Zambia.

The best time to visit is during the dry season, which spans from June to October. During these months, the weather is cooler and drier, with temperatures ranging from 20-30°C (68-86°F) and lower humidity.
