Highlights

  • Hilltop location: Perched on a rocky kopje, the lodge offers sweeping views across Ruaha’s vast wilderness. Sunrises bathe the landscape in golden light, while sunsets bring a dramatic glow over the baobab-dotted plains.

  • Unparalleled predator sightings: Ruaha is home to one of Africa’s largest lion populations, alongside high densities of leopards and cheetahs. The park is also one of the last strongholds for the endangered African wild dog, making predator encounters here exceptional.

  • Exclusive game viewing: With few camps in the park and limited visitor numbers, safaris at Jabali Ridge feel completely private. Expect undisturbed sightings of elephants, large buffalo herds, giraffes, and an array of plains game in one of Tanzania’s most untouched landscapes.

  • Luxury in the wild: Designed to blend into the surroundings, the open-fronted suites feature natural materials, infinity pools, and private decks. Spacious and breezy, they offer an elegant retreat while keeping you immersed in the sights and sounds of the bush.

  • Exceptional guiding: Highly experienced guides lead expertly crafted game drives, walking safaris, and night drives. Their deep understanding of Ruaha’s unique ecosystem ensures every safari is insightful, thrilling, and tailored to your interests.

  • Baobab-dotted landscapes: Ruaha’s scenery is some of the most striking in Africa, with towering ancient baobabs, rugged escarpments, and meandering rivers providing a stunning backdrop to every wildlife encounter.

Are children welcome?

Children aged 5 and above are welcome at Jabali Ridge, although families with children under 12 are required to book a private safari vehicle, ensuring greater flexibility in game drives to match their pace and interests. While there are no dedicated child-specific programs, expert guides tailor experiences to engage younger guests, teaching them about wildlife tracking, Ruaha’s unique ecosystem, and conservation efforts.

Giving back

Jabali Ridge, operated by Asilia Africa, is deeply committed to environmental conservation, community engagement, and cultural preservation.

  • Solar energy: The camp is powered by a substantial solar farm, minimizing reliance on fossil fuels and reducing carbon emissions.

  • Eco-friendly practices: Asilia’s camps, including Jabali Ridge, have eliminated the use of cling film in their kitchens, reducing plastic waste and promoting sustainable operations.

  • Community empowerment: Through the Asilia Scholarship Fund, the company supports local students pursuing education in tourism and teacher training, fostering local employment and community development.

  • Conservation initiatives: As a member of the Lionscape Coalition, Asilia contributes to the protection and recovery of lion populations across Africa, addressing threats like human-wildlife conflict and habitat loss.

What wildlife can you expect to see?

  • In Ruaha National Park, where Jabali is located, you can expect to see a diverse range of wildlife, including:

    • Big Cats: Lions (including large prides), leopards, and cheetahs, with Ruaha being home to one of the largest lion populations in Africa.
    • Elephants: One of East Africa’s largest elephant populations, often seen in large herds.
    • African Wild Dogs: A rare and highly endangered species that thrives in Ruaha.
    • Buffalo: Large herds are common, often attracting predators.
    • Giraffes: Abundant in the park, gracefully moving through the woodlands.
    • Zebras & Antelopes: Including greater and lesser kudu, sable antelope, roan antelope, impalas, and elands.
