How to get there

The lodge is a five-hour drive from Colombo via a scenic route through the Sri Lankan countryside. Alternatively, domestic flights from Colombo to Hambantota’s Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport take just under an hour, followed by a 1 hour 30 minute drive to the lodge. Helicopter charters can also be arranged for a smooth transfer.

Are children welcome?

Yes, children are welcome at Wild Coast Tented Lodge. While the rugged environment is better suited to older children, the lodge provides engaging wildlife experiences for young explorers.

What wildlife can you expect to see?

Yala National Park is one of the best places in the world to see leopards, with a high concentration of these elusive big cats. In addition, the park is home to elephants, sloth bears, spotted deer, wild boar, and a variety of primates. Birdwatchers will delight in sightings of painted storks, crested serpent eagles, and vibrant bee-eaters. The nearby coastal areas are also known for saltwater crocodiles and diverse marine life.
