Giving back

Nine Skies is deeply committed to sustainability and community engagement. The hotel practices zero plastic usage, implements on-site composting, and maintains effective waste management systems to minimise landfill contributions. They cultivate various fruits, vegetables, and herbs on-site, reducing food miles and ensuring fresh produce for guests. Surplus produce is donated to local families, fostering community support. Additionally, Nine Skies organises regular clean-up activities in and around the local area, contributing to environmental preservation efforts.

Through the Teardrop CARE Foundation, Nine Skies supports initiatives such as the Tea Leaf Trust, which uplifts the lives of youth in tea estate communities through education and employment opportunities. They also engage in environmental education for youth and support children with disabilities, enriching the lives of those in the surrounding communities.

Why we love Nine Skies

Staying at Nine Skies feels like stepping into a bygone era of Sri Lanka’s colonial tea heritage, but with all the luxuries of a boutique hotel. Sipping tea on the veranda while watching the morning mist roll over the hills is an experience that perfectly captures the magic of Ella.
