Good to know

How to get there

The most convenient option is a private car transfer, which takes approximately 4 hours 30 minutes from Colombo’s Bandaranaike International Airport. Alternatively, guests can opt for a scenic seaplane transfer with Cinnamon Air to Castlereagh Reservoir, followed by a short drive to the property.

Are children welcome?

Yes, Camellia Hills welcomes families and children of all ages. The hotel offers a Family Suite (The Dickoya) comprising a master suite with a king-size bed, an ensuite bathroom with a bathtub, and an interconnecting room for children.

Giving back

Camellia Hills has implemented several initiatives to reduce its environmental footprint and support local communities. One of its most significant projects is the Eco Warriors Programme, where students from the Upper Dunkeld Division receive education on sustainability, wildlife conservation, reforestation, and biodiversity. This initiative includes field trips, environmental workshops, and sponsored English lessons in partnership with the Tea Leaf Trust, helping to provide better opportunities for local youth.

Another important initiative is the Jackfruit Plantation Project. The hotel has planted 150 jackfruit trees around estate houses to enhance food security for nearby communities. The Eco Warriors team played an active role in identifying planting sites, planting the trees, and monitoring their growth to ensure long-term benefits.

Camellia Hills also runs a Wish Tree Initiative during the Christmas season, encouraging guests and staff to contribute donations that go towards helping underserved children and families in the local area. The collected funds are used to assemble hampers filled with essential goods, which are then distributed to children in the Eco Warriors programme and nearby orphanages.
