Giving back

Mateya Safari Lodge is deeply committed to conservation and sustainability through its integration with the Mateya Wildlife Foundation, a registered non-profit organisation dedicated to preserving Africa’s wildlife. All profits from the lodge are reinvested into the foundation, ensuring the continuation of their conservation legacy.

A key initiative supported by the foundation is the sponsorship of a Conservation Officer within Madikwe Game Reserve. This role focuses on:

  • Rhino Conservation: Implementing focused and continuous monitoring programmes for both black and white rhino populations, including treatment of injured rhinos and DNA collection to aid in their protection.
  • Wildlife Monitoring: Assisting the North West Parks Board with establishing effective management practices for various species within the reserve.
  • Research and Education: Conducting research and creating awareness through presentations and educational programmes to promote conservation efforts.
