The second half of our honeymoon was located in the south of the island at the Shanti Maurice Resort and Spa. This was a complete contrast to the north of the island and we especially enjoyed the opportunity to have a private villa and pool. The food was spectacular and the traditional Mauritian night, enjoying local dancing and food around a bonfire on the beach with crashing waves in the background, was a memorable evening. We really enjoyed our time on this beautiful island and would love to return.

Our first stop was the Hotel 20 Degrés Sud, a fabulous hotel with an intimate, colonial feel and a relaxed vibe with a beautiful pool area. The afternoon tea everyday was a particular treat. The highlight has to be our boat trip to Governors Island – a stunning deserted island with the most incredibly blue sea. The catamaran sail to and from the island was magical, with dolphins and whales aplenty.
