Giving back

The fort was restored as a heritage project, not a standard hotel. It protects traditional architecture and local crafts. The hotel creates jobs for local people and keeps income within the region.

Serena Hotels prioritise local food and products. They support training and employment, and promote regional culture through crafts and performances.

The property also takes part in environmental initiatives. These include clean-up drives with schools, NGOs and local partners to reduce waste and encourage more sustainable practices in the community.

Why we love Serena Shigar Fort

Staying in a restored 17th-century fort is a truly one of a kind experience. There is no better place to immerse yourself in Baltistan’s royal and architectural history. The setting is equally special, overlooking apricot orchards with the peaks of the Karakoram rising beyond!
