Highlights

  • Peaceful bush setting – Perched on a hillside within a private wildlife sanctuary, Omaanda offers wide, uninterrupted views over golden savannah. Wildlife often wanders through camp, meaning you can watch giraffe or kudu from your terrace, cocktail in hand, without ever leaving the lodge.

  • Stylish, contemporary design – Inspired by traditional Owambo architecture, the thatched suites are both earthy and elegant. Interiors combine natural textures with handpicked decor, while large windows and private decks connect you directly to the surrounding wilderness.

  • Personalised game drives – Wildlife experiences are low-key, private and unhurried. You might track giraffe at sunrise or pause for sundowners beside a waterhole – the focus is on immersion rather than ticking off species, with excellent guiding that brings the landscape to life.

  • Wellness and relaxation – The spa offers a carefully curated menu of treatments using locally sourced botanicals. Between activities, relax in the infinity pool, curl up beside a fireplace or enjoy the quiet stillness that makes this part of Namibia so restorative.

  • Close to Windhoek – Just 40 minutes from the international airport, Omaanda is a world away in atmosphere. It’s an ideal first or final stop, giving you time to adjust gently to Namibia’s rhythm without a long transfer or overnight in the city.

  • Exceptional cuisine – Dining here is a highlight, with menus that reflect Namibia’s natural bounty. Think seasonal produce, creative presentation and a carefully curated wine list. Whether you’re enjoying breakfast with a view or a candlelit dinner under the stars, meals feel considered and quietly indulgent.

Good to know

How do we get there?

Omaanda is located within a private wildlife area just outside Windhoek, Namibia’s capital.

  • By air – Fly into Windhoek’s Hosea Kutako International Airport, with transfers to the lodge taking around 40 minutes.

  • By road – The lodge is easily accessed by tar and gravel roads from Windhoek, making it a smooth start or finish to your Namibian journey.

Are children welcome?

Yes – children are welcome at Omaanda. The relaxed, open landscape and variety of activities make it suitable for families. Game drives and bush walks can be adapted for younger guests. Supervision is required, as with any wildlife area, and guides can tailor experiences to family interests.

Giving back

Omaanda embraces responsible tourism with a focus on low‑impact operations and conservation:

  • Eco‑sensitive design – Buildings and paths are sited to minimise disruption to wildlife and landscape.

  • Water and energy stewardship – Conscious use of water in this semi‑arid environment and energy‑efficient practices across camp.

  • Supporting local community – Jobs, training and engagement with nearby communities help ensure lasting benefits from tourism.

  • Wildlife protection – Operating within a private area that contributes to habitat preservation and wildlife monitoring.

What wildlife might you encounter?

While not a Big Five stronghold, the wildlife at Omaanda is varied and rewarding:

  • Plains game – Including kudu, springbok, giraffe and zebra, often seen from your verandah or while driving.

  • Predators and smaller mammals – With luck you might spot black‑backed jackal, bat‑eared fox or genet around dusk.

  • Birdlife – Excellent for birders, with rollers, raptors, larks and more against an open sky backdrop.

  • Sunset silhouettes – Watching antelope or giraffe drift across golden plains at sunset is a highlight for many.

The experience is about subtle, authentic wildlife encounters in a genuine bush setting.

Why we love Omaanda

You’d be forgiven for thinking this is just a useful place to stay, close to Windhoek and the airport. In reality it is a destination in it’s own right, beautiful, peaceful and with amazing guides to bring the wildlife and culture of the region into focus.
