Good to know

How do we get there?

Anderssons Camp is located on the Ongava Private Reserve, just south of Etosha National Park, accessed via Anderssons Gate.

  • By air – Light aircraft flights from Windhoek and other regions land at Ongava’s private airstrip, a short drive from camp.

  • By road – The lodge is a 4.5 to 5.5-hour drive from Windhoek, mostly on good tar roads, with a final gravel section into the reserve. Self-drive or private transfers can be easily arranged as part of your journey.

Are children welcome?

Yes – children aged 6 and above are welcome at Anderssons Camp.

The camp suits curious, engaged children who enjoy wildlife and being outdoors. Activities can be tailored for families, and the proximity to the waterhole offers constant entertainment. For younger guests, a private vehicle is recommended for added flexibility and comfort during game drives.

Giving back

Anderssons Camp is built with sustainability at its core, operating in partnership with the Ongava Research Centre and taking a leading role in low-impact safari practices.

  • Eco-sensitive design – Suites are constructed using natural materials and raised walkways, blending into the landscape with minimal disruption.

  • Solar-powered and water-wise – The camp uses solar energy and careful water management to reduce its environmental footprint in this arid region.

  • Conservation in action – Onsite access to the Ongava Research Centre gives guests a front-row seat to rhino tracking, predator monitoring and habitat research.

  • Community upliftment – Employment and skills development for nearby communities are integral to the Ongava model, with ongoing training and support.

What wildlife might you encounter?

Anderssons Camp delivers exceptional wildlife sightings both within Ongava Reserve and in Etosha National Park:

  • White and black rhino – Ongava is one of the best places in Namibia to see both species, often from the hide or during guided tracking.

  • Lion, leopard and cheetah – Big cats are regularly sighted, especially during early morning and dusk drives.

  • Elephant and giraffe – Often seen at the waterhole or moving across open plains within the reserve.

  • Plains game – Including kudu, oryx, zebra, springbok, wildebeest and eland.

  • Birdlife – Over 300 species recorded, from raptors to sunbirds and bee-eaters.

  • Nightlife at the hide – A sunken hide by the waterhole offers up-close nocturnal sightings of porcupine, aardwolf, hyena and more.

Why we love Anderssons Camp

If you’re looking for something that blends modern design and serious conservation then it is hard to look past Anderssons. There is always wildlife nearby and the underground photographic hide is a gem of a spot to get a different view of it all.
