Giving back

Settha Palace Hotel plays an important role in preserving Vientiane’s architectural heritage. The 1930s French colonial mansion has been carefully restored and maintained, protecting an important piece of the city’s history. Ongoing upkeep ensures this landmark remains part of Laos’ cultural landscape.

The hotel supports the local economy by sourcing produce and services from nearby suppliers. Many of the team are from Vientiane, with training provided to build long-term hospitality skills. This keeps tourism income within the community and creates meaningful employment.

Daily operations also focus on reducing environmental impact. The hotel promotes responsible energy use, careful water management and waste reduction across the property. These practical measures help protect the environment while maintaining high standards of comfort.

What's nearby?

Settha Palace Hotel is close to many of Vientiane’s historic landmarks. That Dam (Black Stūpa), Wat Si Saket, Haw Phra Kaew, the Patuxai Monument and Wat Si Muang are all within easy walking distance, letting you explore the city’s heritage on foot.

The Lao Art Museum, in contrast, is about 7 km from the hotel in Nonsa‑at Village. Other cultural stops like Lao silk workshops, the COPE Visitor Centre and the Laos National Cultural Hall are also a short drive away.

Why we love Settha Palace Hotel

Settha Palace Hotel is an incredibly charming place to stay right in the heart of Vientiane, and being able to set off on foot is great! The history of the hotel is also fascinating: it was originally built in the 1930s as a French colonial building. It later fell into disrepair after being nationalised following the 1975 communist takeover, and was lovingly restored and reopened as a boutique hotel by its original family in 1999.
