Samira Hamisi Juma

Samira Hamisi Juma was born and raised in Mombasa, where her fascination with history, culture and exploration first took shape. Growing up on Kenya’s coast, she developed a strong interest in the stories and traditions that define the region. After completing her schooling, she pursued a Diploma in Tourism Management at Mombasa Aviation Training, inspired in part by her sister, who had already built a career in the tourism industry.

During her training, Samira began guiding through some of Mombasa’s most significant cultural and historic landmarks. Her tours explore places such as Fort Jesus, the Old Port, the Swahili House Museum and the Gede Ruins, offering insight into the coastal heritage that has shaped the city over centuries. Known for her warm and engaging style, she enjoys learning from every guest and tailoring each experience to their interests. Samira speaks English, Arabic and Sign Language, allowing her to connect with a wide range of travellers.

Alongside guiding, Samira founded Quasar’s Kitchen, a culinary initiative focused on traditional coastal cooking. Through hands-on experiences centred on coconut-based Swahili dishes, she introduces guests to the flavours and traditions of Kenya’s coast while supporting and creating opportunities for women in her local community.

Based in Kenya, Samira guides along the Kenyan coastline.
