How to get there

A private airstrip close to the property is just a 45 minute flight away from Nairobi.

Are children welcome?

Absolutely, children of all ages are welcome year-round at the camp. There are dedicated kids programs and the tents offer a good amount of privacy from other guests.

Giving back

Each guest contributes $20US per night to the donation as part of their stay at Angama. This goes to the Foundation which supports the neighbouring communities. Projects include healthcare, conservation and education and you are welcome to experience the work they do during your stay.

Wildlife you are likely to see

At Angama Mara, you’re likely to encounter a wealth of wildlife, including:

  • Lions: The area is famous for its prides, often spotted resting on the vast plains.
  • Elephants: Majestic herds roam the savannah, especially along the Mara River.
  • Leopards: Known for their elusive nature, leopards can be seen in the trees or on the hunt.
  • Cheetahs: Angama Mara is an excellent location for spotting cheetahs, particularly in the early mornings.
  • Giraffes: These graceful giants are frequently seen grazing in the open plains.
  • Zebras and Wildebeest: A variety of antelope species, including impalas and gazelles, also roam the area.
  • Buffaloes: Large herds of buffaloes can often be seen around the waterholes.
  • Hyenas and Wild Dogs: Active at night, these carnivores can occasionally be spotted on game drives.
  • Birdlife: Over 500 bird species are found, including vultures, eagles, and various migratory species.
