Luxury Brazil and Argentina Itinerary

Waterfalls, Beaches and Cities of Brazil and Argentina

The combination of Brazil and Argentina creates an incredible opportunity to discover some of the planet’s most diverse environments, both natural and man made.

This 14-day itinerary is designed to do just that starting in Buenos Aires and ending in Rio de Janeiro you will discover wildlife, ancient ruins and staggering natural wonders along the way.

The journey starts in the “Paris of South America”, Buenos Aires is an incredibly cosmopolitan city with grand architecture and a culture so entirely of it’s own that the residents, or Portenos, are often considered as being from a different country by other Argentines. You’ll have time to explore with your own guide, perhaps taking in a tango show, an empanada-making class or perhaps a shopping spree.

Flying north you will reach the small town of Posadas but won’t stop for long as you will be staying on the banks of Rio Paraná. This northern tip of the Ibera Wetlands is home to some of Argentina’s most amazing wildlife. Capybara’s are regular sightings while caiman lurk in the waters and tropical birds fly overhead. It might be a peaceful place but there is always something happening.

History buffs will love the next stop as you explore the stunning Jesuit Ruins of San Ignacio Mini on your way north towards Iguacu. Dating to the 17th and 18th centuries the remains of five Jesuit missions lie in the heart of a tropical rainforest as a testament to a fascinating period of history in this region. This amazing day ends at the incredible Iguacu Falls.

After revelling in the power of nature you’ll reach the iconic city of Rio de Janeiro with time for cocktails in Copacabana and samba in Ipanema. The journey ends in the sleepy beach town of Paraty giving you time to relax and take in everything you’ve seen.

DID YOU KNOW?

Ibera is the second largest wetlands on the planet and is home to 30% of Argentina’s biodiversity.

Itinerary Highlights

Buenos Aires

The architecture, the tango, the history, the football, the hustle and bustle, the food and the cosmopolitan mix of people all combine to make this one of the most intoxicating cities in Latin America.

Ibera Wetlands

Iberá - jagouar

The vast region of Ibera National Park is often overlooked by visitors to Argentina who are all missing something quite spectacular. An incredibly biodiverse region that rivals Brazil’s more famous pantanal, it is home to some incredible species from capybara playing in the shallows to jaguar and caiman out hunting.

You will stay at the northern tip of the park on the banks of the Rio Paraná from where you can explore the national park with highly experienced guides.

Jesuit Ruins of San Ignacio Mini

Made famous by Robert de Niro and Jeremy Irons in the epic “The Mission” (complete with Enio Morricone’s haunting soundtrack), the Jesuit ruins at San Ignacio tell the story of the proseltsation of the indigenous people of northern Argentina. It’s an incredible tale and brought to life by the sheer scale of the ruins left behind.

Iguacu Falls

Awasi Iguazú: the most exciting new hotel in Argentina

One of the most spectacular sights, and sounds, in the world where up to 450,000 cubic feet of water tumbles over the edge each second the Iguacu Falls are truly unforgettable. You will have time to take in the panoramic views from the Brazilian side as well as diving into the jungle and exploring the falls close up on the Argentine side.

Rio de Janeiro

Few cities are as iconic as Rio de Janeiro. Images of beaches, beautiful people, samba, Corcovado and Sugar Loaf instantly spring to mind and the reality definitely does not disappoint. Exploring with one of our handpicked guides allows you to adapt the experience to really get under the skin of the city and see what you want to see.

Paraty

End the trip in the vibrant beach town of Paraty with white sand beaches, samba music, colour everywhere and perhaps the best caipirinhas in Brazil.
