Horse Riding Kenya Itinerary

Ride Laikipia

For those seeking a truly immersive and exhilarating way to explore Kenya, this 12-day itinerary blends the thrill of horseback safaris with the serenity of the country’s stunning coastline.

Traversing the untamed wilderness of Laikipia on horseback before unwinding on the white-sand beaches of the Lamu Archipelago, this journey is designed for those looking to connect deeply with Kenya’s landscapes, wildlife, and culture.

Begin your adventure in Nairobi, where a night at a comfortable hotel allows time to settle in before the safari begins. From here, travel north to the Laikipia Plateau, a region famed for its breathtaking scenery, abundant wildlife, and conservation-focused lodges. Your primary mode of exploration will be on horseback, allowing for an unparalleled connection with the land and its animals.

Ride through open plains teeming with elephants, giraffes, and rare wild dogs, stopping at remote fly camps for nights under the stars. Each day is tailored to your pace, with long canters, game tracking, and bush breakfasts adding to the experience.

After a week of adventure, fly to the Lamu Archipelago, where Swahili culture meets pristine coastal beauty. Settle into an exclusive beachside retreat, where days are yours to enjoy dhow sailing, snorkelling vibrant reefs, or simply relaxing on untouched shores. A visit to historic Lamu Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site, offers a fascinating insight into Kenya’s coastal history.

Combining exhilarating equestrian adventure with barefoot luxury, this itinerary is a rare opportunity to experience Kenya from an entirely different perspective, embracing its untamed wilderness and idyllic coastline in a way few travellers ever do.
