Luxury Japan Itinerary

A Family Adventure

Take the family on a journey of discovery through Japan. Explore futuristic cities and ancient countryside, discover a rich history and a vibrant present.

Starting in Tokyo you will soon feel at home in Japan as your guide introduces you to new foods, manga schools, virtual reality and incredible architecture. From here you will catch the bullet train to Kyoto, diving deeper into modern and ancient Japan with iconic temples, castles and the chance to take a samurai lesson.

In Nara and the hills beyond, wander among sacred deer and ancient shrines, witnessing Japan’s spiritual roots. Then, as you begin to find true serenity and a calm sense of self… jump into the ring with a sumo wrestler!

Hiroshima is now a bustling modern city, but the Atomic Bomb Dome and Peace Park are poignant reminders of the city’s heartbreaking past, as are the thousands of brightly coloured paper cranes made by school children as symbols of peace.

Take a tranquil ferry ride to the Sacred Island of Miyajima to visit the floating torii gate and Itsukushima Shrine. Absorb the island’s spiritual aura, before continuing to Daisho-in, a Buddhist temple at the foot of Mt. Misen.

The itinerary highlights

Weird and Wonderful Tokyo

Explore Tokyo’s vibrant blend of tradition and modernity, starting at Meiji Shrine, a serene oasis honouring Emperor Meiji. Witness Tokyo’s youth culture hub in Shibuya, home to the iconic crossing and eclectic fashion. Discover Omotesando’s architectural marvels and visit Nezu Art Museum or perhaps try your hand at a Manga drawing lesson. This is a big day, capturing Tokyo’s contrasts, from tranquil shrines to bustling districts, providing a glimpse into the city’s diverse culture and creativity.

Travel by Bullet Train

Traveling on the Japanese bullet train is an exhilarating experience, blending speed and comfort seamlessly. Whisking through the picturesque landscapes at speeds over 300 km/h, passengers are treated to efficient service and impeccable punctuality. The smooth ride, futuristic design, and bento box delicacies make it an unforgettable journey through Japan’s vibrant scenery.

Explore Kyoto

Exploring Kyoto offers a tapestry of cultural wonders. Led by your guide, wander through historic temples like Kinkaku-ji and Fushimi Inari Shrine. Get lost in the charming streets of Gion, spotting geisha. Experience a traditional tea ceremony or try on kimono. You won’t want to miss the tranquil Arashiyama Bamboo Grove or the lively Nishiki Market for culinary delights.

With so much to see and do in Kyoto, we have included plenty of time so perhaps you can visit a local sword maker, have a samurai lesson, take a cooking lesson (learning to make local sweets) or make some pottery to take home with you.

Explore Japan's ancient capital.

You’ll marvel at the colossal bronze Buddha, Japan’s largest, housed in Todai-ji temple. Stroll through Nara-koen Park, where friendly deer eagerly await treats. Explore Kasuga Taisha Shrine, a relic of Nara’s capital era. Don’t miss Isui-en Strolling Gardens, a tranquil haven of plum, cherry, and maple trees. Conclude your day with a visit to the visually stunning Fushimi Inari Shrine, famed for its tunnels of red torii gates.

A history lesson in Hiroshima

The events that unfolded in 1945 in Hiroshima are a lesson to us all. Your guide will take you through the events of that day starting at ground zero and walking through memorial parks to the Genbaku Dome (pictured), the ruins of the former Industrial Promotion Hall of Hiroshima and one of the very few World Heritage Sites that remind us of the negative effects of war.

Miyajima Island

Embark on a scenic train ride to Miyajimaguchi Port, then ferry to Miyajima, a sacred island in the Seto Inland Sea, home to deer influenced by Buddhism. Explore Itsukushima Shrine, a 6th-century marvel, and its iconic vermillion o-torii gate. Visit Daisho-in, a revered Buddhist temple on Mt. Misen’s foot, and indulge in local delicacies like anago, kaki, and momiji manju.
