Luxury India Itinerary

Icons of India

A land of opulent palaces, exquisite cuisine, and ancient traditions, India presents itself as a haven for visitors, where tradition meets luxury. This journey centres around Northern India, offering a captivating blend of its heritage, hospitality, and unmatched grandeur.

Beginning in Delhi, where the ancient culture of Old Delhi and grandeur of New Delhi, make for a rewarding visit exploring historical wonders like the Red Fort and Jama Masjid. A private guide will take you through the iconic Taj Mahal, and the 16th century Agra Fort (aka the other Red Fort), as well as Itimad-ud-Daulah, to admire the evolving architectural styles.

Moving onto Jaipur, the ‘Pink City’ offers a regal retreat, with sights such as the City Palace, Hawa Mahal and Jantar Mantar to visit. Enjoy the bustling markets and local artisans, while outside the modern city are the extraordinary Amber Palace and gigantic Jaigarh Fort.

After a drive to the ‘Blue City’ of Jodhpur, enjoy a glass of chilled champagne, looking out from the ramparts as the city’s lights come on. Jodhpur captivates with the grandeur of Mehrangarh Fort and Umaid Bhawan Palace, and adventurous spirits will explore Jawai, a hidden gem, where leopards roam free amidst stunning landscapes.

Last stop Udaipur, ‘City of Lakes’ and ‘City of Sunrise’. Its magnificent palaces overlooking serene waters, boat rides on Lake Pichola and the colourful bathing ghats contribute to an unforgettable final experience on your journey.

CELEBRATE THIS

Itinerary Highlights

Sunrise at the Taj Mahal

Taj Mahal

Arriving at this great monument, the ethereal morning light shimmers on its marble and jewel-rich inlays. Your guide will also take you to the lovely Itimad-ud-Daulah, illustrating the development of architectural design that led to the Taj Mahal, and you can visit Agra Fort, the magnificent building where Shah Jahan, creator of the Taj Mahal, spent the last years of his life, imprisoned.

Excursions from Jawai

From Jawai you can choose to explore the stunning landscape on horseback, bicycle or take a walking safari with an expert tracker from the Rabari tribe, who have walked this land for centuries. At the end of the day you can relax with spa facilities and, for serious foodies, you can spend time with chefs in their farm gardens learning about the different flavours of the region.

A Private Stepwell Dinner at Rawla Narlai

A Private Stepwell Dinner at Rawla Narlai

Tucked away in the countryside near Narlai village, a 1,100-year-old stepwell glows with the flicker of hundreds of oil lamps. Reached by ox-cart or jeep through quiet village lanes, the descent into the stone amphitheatre is accompanied by the soft strains of live folk music echoing off ancient walls. As twilight deepens, traditional thalis are served under the open sky, with staff offering warm shawls and heartfelt hospitality.

Afternoon Shared Jeep Safari

This is your chance to spot leopards as you board a customized jeep with a specialist wildlife guide. Together you’ll explore the stunning scenery, watching out for these elusive cats. It’s not all about the leopards though – you may also see yena, wild fox, sloth bear, eagle owls, pythons and crocodiles, with a range of bird species from pelican and flamingo to laggar falcons and tiny bulbuls.

Sunset boat trip on Lake Pichola

As the sun sets, relish in a private boat trip on the Lake, visiting Jagmandir Island and the colourful bathing ghats. Afterwards, we suggest a final dinner at the hotel’s LOYA restaurant, leading you on a culinary journey from the foothills of the Himalayas to the flat terrain of Punjab and snow-laden Kashmir. What a way to end your day, and your Indian experience.

Amber Fort

Starting in Amber village, you’ll have the opportunity to visit a ruined fort and hidden shrines, then proceed to the Amber Fort, perhaps the finest of all the fort palaces, it reflects the opulence and elegance of the nearby Mughal courts. The Rajputs built their forts high on hills giving them lookouts over the surrounding area and protection from invading armies, so views here are spectacular.
