The Sol y Luna Foundation, established by the founders of the Sol y Luna Lodge in Peru’s Sacred Valley, is a beacon of hope and empowerment for the local community. Its mission is to enhance the quality of life for underprivileged children and their families through education and social support. The foundation runs the Sol y Luna School, offering high-quality education to over 200 students, with a curriculum that blends academic excellence with artistic and physical development.
In addition to education, the foundation provides medical care, psychological support, and vocational training, ensuring holistic development and well-being. It also focuses on the inclusion of children with disabilities, providing specialised support and resources. Guests at the Sol y Luna Lodge are encouraged to engage with the foundation’s initiatives, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to the community and witness the transformative impact of their efforts firsthand.
We are proud to say that our co-owner, Chris has been on the board of the charity for many years and that cazenove+loyd has long supported the fabulous work that they do.
I could talk about how fabulous the rooms are or how wonderful the views into the Sacred Valley are, or perhaps how the food is incredible with impecable service. All that is so good it almost goes unnoticed. For me it is that by staying here I am doing real good in the local community.

Absolutely and they are very welcome to get involved in the foundation with school visits. It’s a fabulous place to stop for longer than your average hotel to really immerse your family in life in the Sacred Valley.
In addition to the Foundation, Sol y Luna is deeply committed to environmental sustainability, integrating eco-friendly practices throughout its operations. The lodge minimises its ecological footprint by using solar energy, implementing waste management programs, and promoting water conservation techniques. Organic gardening supplies the kitchens with fresh produce, reducing food miles and supporting local agriculture. Sol y Luna also prioritises the use of biodegradable products and eco-conscious materials in its facilities. Additionally, the lodge actively engages in reforestation efforts and supports local environmental initiatives, ensuring that the natural beauty and biodiversity of the Sacred Valley are preserved for future generations.
