Set in the hustle of Mexico City on the grand boulevard of Paseo de la Reforma, this hacienda-style hotel is an urban oasis. As you take your first steps into the seemingly quiet building, it feels as if everything has been put on pause – just for a moment. With iconic architecture and an idyllic courtyard garden of stunning greenery and a tranquil water fountain, this hotel is the perfect retreat after a busy day exploring on your Mexico group tour.
Hot Air Balloon over Teotihuacan
One to get the heart racing, the day begins early as you make your way to Teotihuacan – one of the first great cities of the Western hemisphere, where incredibly its origins, culture and history remain a mystery to this day. Prepare to see the city from a new perspective as you rise above in a hot air balloon. Glide over the palaces and pyramids including the Quetzalpapalotl Palace Complex, the Temple of the Feathered Conches, the Pyramid of the Moon, and the immense Pyramid of the Sun, as you awe from above in the size and mass of what was once the homes of the ancient Aztecs. The ride finishes with a traditional toast of sparkling wine before descending to the ground.
Monumental Mexico City
Get ready for an active day of sightseeing as you explore Mexico City and its spectacular architecture. Everything about this tour is immense. First stop is the Zocalo, one of the largest public squares in the world, followed by the Metropolitan Cathedral, the biggest church in Latin America, and lastly, a visit to the Templo Mayor (or Great Temple) – once part of a colossal sacred precinct.
The afternoon brings a visit to the National Museum of Anthropology to discover the treasures of the Aztec culture. The museum is host to many precious artifacts and holds some of the world’s most cherished archaeological finds. The highlight? The Aztec Hall containing the Aztec calendar of 12-foot, 25-ton carved basalt slab – a truly fascinating piece of ancient history.
Coyocan, Frida Kahlo and Tacos
Towards the south of Mexico City is the vibrant neighbourhood of Coyocan – a village with its own identity. Think narrow colonial-era streets, plazas, cafes and a lively bohemian atmosphere. Within Coyocan is the Frida Kahlo Museum, where she lived much of her life. You’ll visit her house so beautifully rich in colour, flourished with her famous portraits as well as many innumerable artefacts associated with her and her husband, famous muralist Diego Rivera. This house is truly a treasure trove of art history.
The evening is spent indulging in Mexico’s delicious food and culture. You’ll take to the streets in search for the ultimate Taco. You’ll taste tacos al pastor and crispy volcanoes with cheese and suadero from vendors who have been in the area for decades. Next stop is a visit to a lively cantina to learn about the culture in Mexico City as you toss back a ‘chela’ – Mexican slang for a cold beer. The evening finishes with a private mezcal tasting led by a local chef and expert.
Grand Prix Day - Qualifying
Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, the home of the Mexican Grand Prix is one of the most colourful events on the F1 calendar. Famous for incredible costumes and a huge party atmosphere this will be where you spend most of the next two days.
With VIP tickets giving you the best views of the action on track as well as a pit lane walk and a guided track walk, the chance to hear interviews with drivers, past, present and future and even to have a photo taken with the trophies!
With the Qualifying session today there will be plenty of time to watch support races and to soak up the atmosphere.
As the drivers prepare themselves for a gruelling race at one of the highest altitude tracks on the calendar you will travel to the track well ahead of the start so as to have time to take it all in before the lights go green.
As the checkered flag falls and the winner is crowned on the podium, post race interviews are conducted and then the after party begins.
At the end of the festivities your driver will be ready to take you back to the hotel in the city.
Mexico City to Oaxaca
Spend the morning soaking up the aftermath of the excitement from the day before and enjoy a leisurely morning, sip a coffee and refuel with breakfast, take a dip in the pool, or enjoy a well-needed lay-in before your departure onwards to Oaxaca. Your private driver will meet you at the hotel, and you’ll begin the gentle drive through Mexico towards the next festivities. As you begin to approach Oaxaca, you’ll instantly feel the atmosphere change in anticipation as the locals prepare for Day of the Dead.

This is a beautiful boutique hotel in the expertly restored 16th century Convent of Santa Catalina de Siena. Rich in history and culture, the building has been preserved over four centuries and is another UNESCO world heritage site to be admired on your Mexico group tour. With its warm vintage charm and modern amenities, this hotel is spacious yet offers a cosy atmosphere. Step outside and the hotel is surrounded by lush green gardens and captivating courtyards – a perfect place for a delightful breakfast to start the day.
Discover Oaxaca and the beginnings of Day of the Dead
Your introduction to Oaxaca starts with exploring the surrounding countryside. To begin, you’ll visit the archaeological site of Mitla. Next is a visit to the Tlacolula, for a stroll through the colourful markets of handcrafted offerings from the locals. A final stop at Teotitlan del Valle, a weaver’s town which pays tributes of cloth to the Aztecs – a great opportunity to pick up some authentic souvenirs to take home with you.
As night falls, you’ll be part of a very exclusive tour to one of the oldest towns in the Valley of Oaxcaca. It’s the beginning of the Day of the Dead and villagers gather at the tombs of the cemetery of San Miguel with candles and flowers. Some stay part of the night, whilst some stay all through the night as they recall with a mixture of yearning and memories the absence of their beloved ones. You’ll be part of the very few outsiders to witness this inspiring annual tradition.
Day of the Dead
A day to embrace Mexican culture and the famous festival – Day of the Dead. You’ll be part of a private tour which only occurs once a year. An exclusive experience to witness this spectacular festival. Just outside of Oaxcaca is Etla, where you’ll attend the Comparsas – a street party which turns into an all-night parade. The costumes are complete with masks that represent important ‘muerteada’ figures such as the devil, the dead, and the old. Skulls are painted smiling to symbolise laughing in the face of death – discovery of the many unique Mexican traditions add to this spectacular day honouring the dead.

Culture and Food
Spend your last full day on your Mexico group tour soaking up its culture and food. Starting with Monte Alban – spectacularly situated on a mountain 400 meters above the Valley. A breath-taking sight of ruins and one of the greatest Zapotec cities of the time – a triumph of engineering too as the mountain top was levelled to allow for the creation. You’ll explore the beautiful structures of the Gran Plaza, Ball Court, Observatory and the Palace to name just a few.
The afternoon is all about food. Starting with a visit to the Market of Benito Juarez – the main street food centre in the city. Taste the well-known grasshoppers (chapulines), and authentic quesadillas, along with a traditional Tlayuda or if you prefer, grilled meat with guacamole and baby onions. Desert is local produce of Oaxaca sherbet followed by Mezcal tasting to finish.
It’s time to say your goodbyes as the Mexico group tour is coming to an end. Your private driver will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the airport in good time to check in for your flight.
