Morocco
I visited in Marrakech and beautiful Essaouira in December 2022, during the World Cup. I was not much of a football fan at the time, but the energy in the streets after each victory was electric and I couldn’t help but get swept up in the moment. I’ll be cheering for Morocco in the next one, for sure! Footie aside, my time was spent exploring the rooftops and markets of the Medina, feasting on prickly pears and delicious tangia (different to tagine), and drinking in Essaouira’s stunning coastline. It was a truly wonderful trip.
My next destination is...
Peru
My plan pre-Covid was to spend six months travelling through South America, hiking to Machu Pichu and following the well-trodden gringo trail. I’m hoping 2023 is the year that this finally happens; now that I’m armed with a broader destination knowledge, at very least the trip should be less cliché! I want to explore the food scene in Lima (including a visit to the legendary Centrale restaurant), experience the hair-raising plane ride to Cuzco and chill out in the Amazon rainforest. Fingers crossed I make it this time.
