How to get there

From the north (Quito): Hacienda San Agustín de Callo is around 1 hour 30 minutes by road from Quito, travelling south along the Pan-American Highway. The journey passes through fertile Andean valleys before reaching the northern gateway to Cotopaxi National Park.

From the south (Riobamba): From Riobamba, allow around 2½ hours by road. Travelling north along the Avenue of Volcanoes, you’ll pass beneath Chimborazo and through traditional highland communities before arriving at the hacienda on the slopes of Cotopaxi.

Are children welcome?

Yes. Hacienda San Agustín de Callo welcomes families and is particularly well suited to children aged six and above who enjoy the outdoors and history. Family suites are available, and activities such as horse riding, gentle walks, visits to nearby farms and exploring Cotopaxi National Park make it an engaging base for adventurous families. Younger children are also welcome, although the historic buildings, open fireplaces and high-altitude location mean the property is generally better suited to older children.

Hacienda San Agustín de Callo takes a low-impact, heritage-led approach to sustainability. Rather than building a new hotel, the owners have carefully restored and maintained one of Ecuador’s most important historic haciendas, preserving its Inca and colonial architecture for future generations. Much of the produce served in the restaurant is sourced from the estate’s own gardens and neighbouring farms, supporting local communities and reducing food miles. The hacienda also employs local staff, celebrates Ecuadorian craftsmanship throughout the property and works with nearby guides and communities to ensure tourism benefits the wider region around Cotopaxi.
