Most travel to Egypt to unveil the country’s fascinating history, and with our tailor-made holidays in Egypt you can get under the skin of the ancient land of the pharaohs.

Why travel to Egypt

With the mighty Nile coursing through its veins, a verdurous river valley and delta, barren desert landscapes and some of the world’s most magnificent, timeworn monuments, Egypt is a remarkable destination. The best way to experience its history and culture is with a tailor-made holiday in Egypt organised by luxury travel experts.
Once home to one of the pre-eminent ancient civilisations, Egypt offers sand-carpeted tombs, pharaonic temples, Islamic mosques and, of course, the majestic Pyramids of Giza, the last standing Wonder of the Ancient World. We can create the most memorable journeys, providing you with incredible private access, brilliant Egyptologists and insider tips on how best to visit the abundant treasures here.
But Egypt is about more than just its past. A few days in Cairo, the bustling capital, will give you a flavour of the modern-day city. An idyllic Nile cruise will allow you to unwind and get a glimpse of rural life today, as you drift through ever-changing scenery, stopping off at glorious ancient sites along the way. What’s more, the Red Sea coastline offers world-class snorkelling and scuba-diving, and there are some beautiful, remote regions to explore, such as the Siwa Oasis in the Western Desert.

Our highlights in Egypt

Our Destination Expert’s top tip

In Luxor, generally people will visit the Valley of the Kings followed by Valley of the Queens – if you visit the Valley of the Queens first and do it in reverse you’ll likely escape the crowds

historical insight

Ancient Egyptians loved board games. Several different games were played, including “Mehen” and “Dogs and Jackals,” but perhaps the most popular was a game of chance known as “Senet.” This pastime dates back as far as 3500 B.C. and was played on a longboard painted with 30 squares.

Did you know?

Cats were considered sacred. For ancient Egyptians, having a cat in the purring in the house would guarantee good luck. They were so fond of cats that if one killed it accidentally, it resulted in a death penalty.

What our clients say

We had a fabulous time – brilliant itinerary, perfectly planned, wonderful hotels, great guides. We really did cram in as much as we could, and it was magnificent. Overall, I couldn’t be happier. We had such great drivers and charming companions. The Four Seasons at Sharm El Sheikh was a perfect place to recover.

What our clients say

Many thanks for the wonderful holiday you organised for us. The visit to Siwa should be on everybody’s itinerary. It is fantastic and rather mystical to be in the desert. Staying in that ecological place without electricity but completely comfortable was incredible. The food was the best we ate in the country. It was well worth the seven-hour drive.

What our clients say

Siwa was DEFINITELY the highlight for me, of course the expected sites – Valley of the Kings, Abu Simbel and Karnak temple were all fantastic. I especially loved the drive along the Nile from Luxor to Aswan. I am pretty sure it is as enjoyable as a cruise. You visit the same temples on the way, find lovely places to stop for a coffee or mint tea, and it is much quicker if you are limited by time. We had a wonderful walk around Aswan market that evening, which is very colourful with its great spices and perfume shops.
