El Remanso Lodge on the Osa Peninsula is approximately 45km from the nearest domestic airport, Puerto Jiménez Airport (PJM). The drive from Puerto Jiménez to the lodge typically takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour by 4WD vehicle, depending on road conditions.

For international travellers, the closest major airport is Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) in San José. From there, it’s a short domestic flight (about 50 minutes) to Puerto Jiménez, followed by the drive to the lodge.

Are children welcome?

The lodge operates entirely on 100% renewable energy, using a combination of hydroelectric power and solar panels. Their eco-friendly practices extend to waste management, where they follow the “reduce, reuse, recycle” principle. Organic waste is composted, and even cooked waste is sent to local farms to feed animals.

The lodge also avoids single-use plastics and harmful chemicals like pesticides and herbicides. Additionally, all cleaning products and toiletries provided to guests are certified biodegradable. El Remanso supports local communities by employing staff from nearby areas and actively participates in reforestation projects and environmental education​.

What wildlife might I encounter?
