Geothermal field adventures – Excursions to the region’s geothermal fields reveal steaming geysers and bubbling fumaroles.
Astronomy and stargazing – Experience world-renowned Atacama night skies through guided stargazing sessions, learning about southern constellations beneath exceptionally clear desert conditions with astrophysicists and photographers.

How to get there

Unai is around 1 hour 20 minutes from the airport in Calama.

Are children welcome?

Yes, children are welcome, and there are family tents that can sleep up to five people. With plenty of garden space, there are no concerns about being close to a neighbour. This region is at 2,400m above sea level, and some excursions go up to 4,500m; we would recommend a minimum age of 10.

Unai Luxury Camp embraces a low-impact approach designed to preserve the fragile beauty of the Atacama Desert. The camp’s architecture is carefully integrated into the surrounding landscape, using lightweight structures and thoughtful design to minimise environmental disturbance while maintaining a close connection to nature.

Sustainability efforts include responsible water and energy use, waste reduction initiatives and a focus on supporting local communities and regional suppliers wherever possible. Excursions are designed to encourage respectful engagement with the desert’s delicate ecosystem, cultural heritage and extraordinary night skies.

Why we love Unai

When we first heard about this project it’s fair to say that we were sceptical, but having visited it in April 2026 we can confirm that they have created something really special. The tents are beautifully designed with aircon and heating, huge bathrooms and a huge amount of outdoor space. Many of the staff have come from the best hotels across Chile and their combined experience is showing in every aspect of the proprty. This is something completely different and San Pedro has needed it for many years.
