Giving back

Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge contributes to both the environment and the local community in many ways. Sitting within a national park, the lodge takes care to protect the land around it. It holds a 5-Green Key Eco-Rating, which reflects high standards for energy saving, waste reduction and responsible operations. The resort also reduces light pollution with dark-sky lighting, helping to keep Jasper’s night skies clear.

Plastic waste is another area of focus. The lodge has removed most single-use plastics and donates leftover guest soaps through the ‘Clean the World’ programme. Local produce and certified sustainable seafood feature heavily on the menu, while an on-site greenhouse grows fresh ingredients, cutting down on transport emissions.

The lodge supports the community in practical ways. Following recent wildfires, it joined other local partners in pledging millions of dollars to recovery efforts. Groups such as the Jasper Community Team Society benefit, helping residents rebuild and remain resilient. Staff and guests also take part in clothing drives, food donations and clean-ups throughout the year.

Respect and inclusion are central to the lodge’s approach. It recognises the Indigenous land it stands on and aims to create a welcoming workplace for people from many backgrounds. These efforts show how a lodge can combine responsible tourism with thoughtful hospitality, helping Jasper remain a healthy place for both locals and visitors.

What's Nearby?

At Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, the landscape itself invites exploration. Lac Beauvert stretches calm and shimmering outside your door, and guests can take to the water in canoes, kayaks or on stand-up paddleboards. Families often borrow a paddle boat, drifting across the lake while spotting ducks or listening to the wind through the pines. Trails weave through the 700-acre grounds, and guided walks reveal the subtle rhythms of the forest, the stories of the land, and the occasional deer peeking through the trees.

Golfers will find the lodge’s 18-hole course a delightful challenge, with fairways that wind around mountain views. Mountain-biking and cycling routes are also close by, offering adventure for all skill levels. In winter, the grounds transform: snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and ice skating on natural lakes become everyday pleasures. Even a quiet moment on the lakefront or by the fire with a hot drink offers a memorable connection with the Rockies.

Guests seeking a different perspective can take a helicopter flight over glaciers and peaks, or go on a private a wildlife safari to see elk, bears and other natural residents. It can also be arranged for guests to visit nearby Jasper National Park landmarks such as Maligne Canyon, Athabasca Falls or the Columbia Icefield.
