Giving back

Fairmont Banff Springs minimises food waste by using every part of each ingredient, from turning meat trim into stock to re-using bread. In addition, the team tracks waste with the Orbisk system to help reduce overall volume.

Furthermore, low-flow plumbing, a liquid pool cover and redesigned golf course landscaping conserve millions of gallons of glacier-fed water each year. LED lighting also helps cut electricity use across the property.

Leftover toiletries are then donated to Clean the World, supporting vulnerable communities, while a portion of pet cleaning fees is given to the local Bow Valley SPCA.

Moreover, electric-vehicle charging stations and shuttle options encourage greener travel, allowing guests to reduce their carbon footprint as they explore the Rockies.

What's Nearby?

Located in Banff National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, guests can enjoy a wide range of year-round outdoor activities in these awe-inspiring landscapes. To start, you can hike through the mountains and past shimmering lakes. You might also spot wildlife with an expert naturalist or head out on private e-biking and cycling trips. In winter, meanwhile, skiing and snowshoeing take centre stage.

From Fairmont Banff Springs, guests can then take the included shuttle to the three nearby ski resorts: Mount Norquay, Sunshine Village and Lake Louise Ski Resort.

The hotel is also excellent for golf. Its 18-hole Stanley Thompson course is known for its beautiful scenery and thoughtful design. In addition, it is joined by Tunnel Mountain 9, a 9-hole course built in 1989, with natural hazards and sweeping mountain views.

Back at the resort, there is much to enjoy. Guests can swim in the indoor or outdoor saltwater pools, try the three plunge pools, or soak in the outdoor hot tub. Furthermore, the fitness centre offers yoga and fitness classes, and guests can also train with a private personal trainer. For those wishing to relax, the Fairmont Spa provides a wide range of treatments and salon services, plus a steam room and sauna.
