Good to know

How do we get there?

Clayoquot Lodge is inaccessible by car so the quickest and easiest way to get there is to fly to Vancouver, British Columbia and connect with a 45-minute seaplane flight directly to the resort dock on Clayoquot sound. A horse-drawn carriage will take you from the docks to the lodge.

If guests would rather arrive by boat, they can arrive by sea on one of Clayoquots boats for the 45-minute passage from the marina in Tofino. We really recommend doing one of the journeys by boat, because you can encounter a lot of wildlife that would be missed from above.

It can also be arranged for guests to arrive in a private helicopter.

Are children welcome?

Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge welcomes children aged six years and over, however younger guests must be over the age of 12 to ride the horses.

Giving back

A stay at Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge avoids single-use plastics wherever possible. The lodge uses glass and stainless-steel bottles, canvas tote bags, and refillable vessels for guest amenities. Straws are not used at all.

Education is a key part of each stay. Guides share their knowledge of the local environment and explain how guests can help reduce their impact. These insights highlight the importance of protecting the region and ensuring the long-term health of the wilderness.

Clayoquot’s culinary programme uses locally produced organic ingredients wherever it can, sourcing from British Columbia and, when available, from Clayoquot Sound itself. A kitchen garden and greenhouse supply fresh greens, vegetables and herbs throughout the season.

Since 2001, the lodge has helped regenerate declining salmon populations by creating new spawning habitat on the property and restoring native stocks in local river systems. As a keystone species, wild salmon are vital to the ecosystem, and the lodge is committed to safeguarding their future.

Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge now runs on a new solar energy and battery microgrid system, the largest of its kind on Vancouver Island, which greatly reduces its reliance on diesel power. This CAD$4.2 million installation includes more than 1,500 solar panels and enables the lodge to operate largely off-grid with clean, renewable energy.

What's Included?

Every stay includes guided signature adventures, special-interest activities and wellbeing experiences such as canyoning, hiking, marine excursions, horse-riding, rock climbing and archery. Gourmet dining, premium beverages and use of mountain bikes, e-bikes and watercraft are also part of the stay. Private guides can be arranged at an additional cost.

Why we love Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge

Staying at Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge feels incredible, you’re in a stunning setting, completely surrounded by wilderness, yet still spoiled with every comfort. The meals are fresh and delicious, and it’s not unusual to see an otter bobbing in the inlet or an eagle gliding overhead. I’d definitely recommend arriving by boat, as you’ll wildlife along the way that you might miss from the seaplane.
