My recent journey through this enchanting land with my mother was nothing short of magical, and beautifully showcased how and why Vietnam is the ideal destination for a mother-daughter trip. Vietnam’s culture is a captivating blend of history, tradition, and modernity. From the bustling streets of Hanoi to the ancient town of Hoi An, every corner of the country tells a story. My mother and I spent hours exploring Hanoi’s Old Quarter, losing ourselves in the narrow lanes lined with colonial architecture, traditional markets, and quaint cafés. The vibrant street life and the chance to witness traditional water puppet shows were unforgettable highlights. One of our favourite experiences was trying multiple cuisines with a true foodie, Ms. Thao. We would not have been as confident without her expert guidance.

Vietnam’s natural beauty is awe-inspiring and incredibly diverse. We embarked on a cruise through Ha Long Bay, marvelling at the emerald waters and towering limestone islands. The serene beauty of this UNESCO World Heritage site is perfect for creating lasting memories with your travel companion. Additionally, a trip to the terraced rice fields of Mai Chau offered us a glimpse into the rural life of Vietnam, surrounded by lush greenery and misty mountains.

Vietnamese food is a delightful journey for the taste buds. From pho (pronounced “fuh“) and banh mi, a Vietnamese baguette influenced by the French, to fresh spring rolls and the famous egg coffee, every meal was an adventure. My mother and I took a cooking class at Zannier Bai San Ho, learning to prepare traditional dishes with fresh ingredients from their organic garden. It was a wonderful bonding experience and a fun way to immerse ourselves in the local culinary culture with the expert chefs from the hotel.

For a more relaxing part of our trip, we visited some of Vietnam’s most luxurious wellness retreats. At Six Senses Ninh Van Bay, we enjoyed a serene escape with stunning views of the bay, indulging in holistic spa treatments and yoga sessions. Six Senses Con Dao provided an idyllic island getaway with pristine beaches and eco-friendly villas, where we relaxed with rejuvenating spa therapies and went scuba diving. Lastly, Zannier Bai San Ho offered a secluded haven with beautiful architecture and a focus on wellness, including personalised spa treatments and wellness programmes. Each location provided a perfect setting for unwinding and recharging, making our trip even more special.

Throughout our journey, we were met with warmth and hospitality from the Vietnamese people. Our inspiring guides painted a picture of Vietnam’s vibrant culture and history whilst giving us tips on where to eat, ensuring we always felt welcome. Moreover, Vietnam’s reputation as a safe travel destination added to our peace of mind, allowing us to fully enjoy our trip without any worries.
