How to get there

Placencia can be reached via a short domestic flight (approximately 40 minutes) from Belize City to Placencia Airstrip, followed by a five-minute drive to the hotel. For those preferring to travel by road, the drive from Belize City takes around three hours. Private transfers can be arranged. Helicopter charters are also available for direct access.

Are children welcome?

Yes, Turtle Inn welcomes children. Family-friendly villas, babysitting services, and a laid-back beachfront setting make it a great choice for a relaxed family holiday. The on-site activities, including paddleboarding and snorkelling, offer entertainment for all ages.

Giving back

Turtle Inn is part of the Coppola family’s wider sustainability initiative across their Central American properties. The hotel avoids single-use plastics, sources produce from its own organic garden and nearby farms, and uses eco-friendly building materials. It supports community education projects in Placencia and funds local conservation work, including reef protection and mangrove preservation.

What is nearby?

Turtle Inn offers effortless access to some of southern Belize’s most remarkable cultural sites and natural wonders. Guests can visit the nearby Maya sites of Nim Li Punit and Lubaantun—both set amidst jungle landscapes and offering insight into the region’s ancient civilisations. Combine these with a swim in the natural pools of Rio Blanco Waterfalls or an exhilarating hike through the towering forest canopy.

For wildlife enthusiasts, the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary and Jaguar Preserve lies just 1 hour 30 minutes away, offering guided hikes, birding opportunities, and the chance to spot howler monkeys or elusive jungle cats. The Monkey River Wildlife Adventure, a short boat ride from the lodge, provides a closer look at manatees, crocodiles and tropical birds along the mangrove-lined riverbanks.

Back at the coast, snorkelling or diving in the protected waters of Laughing Bird Caye or the Silk Cayes reveals spectacular coral reefs teeming with marine life.

Activities can be booked with us in advance or upon arrival. To secure the best possible guide for your experience we recommend booking these in advance.

Why we love Turtle Inn

The open-air bathrooms are a standout—showering under the stars, framed by tropical gardens, is unforgettable. It’s a rare mix of barefoot simplicity and design that feels deeply personal.
