  • Adventures Into The Maya World: The lodge arranges guided excursions to nearby Caracol, Belize’s largest Maya site, as well as canoe trips and jungle hikes.

How to get there

The lodge is a 2 hour 30 minute drive from Belize City or 1 hour 45 minutes from San Ignacio by car on a mix of paved and unpaved roads. Private helicopter transfers can be arranged from Belize City direct to the lodge’s helipad for those seeking a swifter journey.

Are children welcome?

Yes, children are welcome at Blancaneaux Lodge. Family cabanas and villas provide ample space, and the lodge offers nature-based activities suitable for children, including horseback riding and waterfall swims.

Giving back

Blancaneaux Lodge is committed to sustainability and community engagement. The property operates primarily on hydroelectric power and uses solar-heated water. Its Mayan garden supports traditional farming methods and supplies much of the lodge’s produce. The Coppola family also supports the Toledo Cacao Growers Association and works with local artisans and guides, helping preserve the region’s cultural and ecological heritage.

What is nearby?

Blancaneaux Lodge is an ideal base for exploring the cultural and natural highlights of the Mountain Pine Ridge region. Just a short drive away, you’ll find the impressive Maya ruins of Caracol—Belize’s largest archaeological site—often combined with a visit to the Rio Frio Cave and a refreshing swim in the nearby Rio On Pools. These sites offer a compelling mix of history and striking landscapes.

Guests can also explore the smaller but equally fascinating sites of Xunantunich and Cahal Pech, typically visited alongside a hands-on chocolate making tour that introduces the traditions and techniques of ancient Maya cacao use. Cave adventures include canoeing through Barton Creek Cave or hiking into the depths of nearby limestone caverns, where pottery and ceremonial remains are still visible.

Activities can be booked with us in advance or upon arrival. To secure the best possible guide for your experience we recommend booking these in advance.

Why we love Blancaneaux Lodge

Blancaneaux feels completely removed from the outside world—refined, secluded, and deeply connected to the surrounding jungle.
