ITINERARY IN DETAIL

Famous for its beautiful architecture, vibrant café and restaurant scene, football, tango and so much more Buenos Aires is a wonderful city to explore. In this version of the itinerary we have included the minimum nights needed, but we’d highly recommend extending your stay to take more of the city in. From the colourful houses of La Boca to the French style architecture of Recoleta there is such variety to discover. Dine in spectacular restaurants, take in a show at the Teatro Colon, visit art galleries, museums and the staggering cemetery in Recoleta or simply sit in a café and people watch.

Meeting the horses at Los Potreros is a magical moment. This whole places lives and breathes horses, they are integral to daily life and truly are part of the family. You will get to know some of them on day one, learning about the different breeds and saddle choices that you can try throughout your stay.

With nearly 7,000 acres to explore on horse back your rides over these few days could take you through a huge range of scenery. From the highest point on the property with stunning views over the Sierra Chicas where you may spot condors to visiting local villages or riding with the cattle, to discovering the hidden waterfall, you will explore with local gauchos who know the property and horses intimately.

A trip to an Argentine estancia would not feel right without the opportunity to try the sport of Polo. If you’re a beginner then don’t worry you’ll have a lesson and plenty of practice time before the chukkas start for real. With enough guests there will, inevitably be a Guachos vs Guests match before you settle in for an Asado lunch and an afternoon of relaxing.

Throughout your stay you will be riding with people who live and work in the saddle giving you the most incredible opportunity to learn from some of the most experienced riders in the world. It’s a wonderful way of life that is often passed down through the generations and the team at Los Potreros is second to none. They will be your guides as you explore the landscape, tailoring the rides to your needs and experience. The more we know about that before you go the better your experience will be, the only caveat is that there is a strict 85kg weight limit that all riders must abide by.

Six of us enjoyed a very well organised trip to Argentina. We visited four locations over 12 days, so lots of logistics, but everything worked out incredibly well, thanks to cazenove+loyd. We especially loved our local guides and our 10-mile hike in stunning Patagonia on Christmas Day. Thank you, you helped us create memories to last a lifetime.

We got back from Argentina on Sunday and I just wanted to send a quick email to say thank you. The trip you planned for us was wonderful! I am particularly grateful for our time at Aguas Arriba Lodge. It was such a special place. There’s really nothing that could have prepared us for the extraordinary beauty of the area or the warmth of the people. I know we had originally been concerned that we had scheduled too much time there, but it was magical and clearly the highlight of our visit to Patagonia. Whenever we’re ready for our next adventure, we know now that we can count on you to plan something that’s just right for us.

We were impressed with the efficiency and warmth of the team in both Chile and Argentina. It was a blessing to have the Chile-Argentina border crossing handled by cazenove+loyd: we made it across much faster than other travellers. All the places we stayed were great, and the guides, too.

Our trip to Patagonia and Buenos Aires was spectacular. We experienced what felt like the far reaches of the Earth – the most breathtaking glaciers, peaks and waterfalls, and weather that changed in an instant, including the most powerful winds; not to mention killer views from every direction. Our accommodation was wonderful – all beautiful and quite different from one another. And everywhere we went, we were treated so well. An adventure we will not soon forget.
